The China Education Symposium, established in 2010, is a well-known official student-run organization at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The annual Symposium aims to gather practitioners, researchers, and policymakers in the field of education to present the latest research, exchange new ideas, and brainstorm innovative solutions related to education in China.
I presented on the Identity Development panel, joining Dr. Redding from Harvard Graduate School of Education, who spoke about her research on the identity development of American college students, and Nancy Shi from Moonshot Academy in China, who spoke about her experiences as a life coach and organizer of identity development programs for high school students, young adults, and parents in China.
My presentation explored how identity development is crucial in career exploration and professional wayfinding, as our intersecting identities are the foundation upon which we build our understanding of the world and see ourselves in the context of the world as it relates to work.
